Mr. Norman (Norm) Chabot of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Mrs. Edna Chabot, passed away in Medicine Hat on Monday, April 17, 2006, at the age of 79 years. Norm leaves to cherish his memory eight children, Janet Stirman, Sharon Hambley, Shelley Rehaume, Lavern Chabot, Lauri Schulthies, Garry Hambley, Karen Shantz, Shannon Shantz; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Gervais as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents , Victoria and Cleophas Chabot, ten brothers and sisters as well as his step-daughter, Mary-Jean Bajer. Norm was born in Morinville, Alberta on August 21, 1926. he was raised in the Peace River Country, and attended Catholic Boarding School. Edna Mae and Norman Joseph married on June 16, 1976 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He worked many years as a carpenter and as a funeral director and ambulance driver for nine years. He also transferred vehicles for Big M and Rodeo Ford for many years. While in Northern Alberta, Norm was active in the Elks as well as the Lions. He loved music and played in a band for many years. Norm was always busy buying and selling vehicles, and he enjoyed time spent fishing, hunting, camping, and playing cards with his friends. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour and his compassionate nature. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, April 21, 2006, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Bob Findley officiating. Private Interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Medicine Hat SPCA, P.O. Box 121, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 7E8.
