Obituary - Marie Cummins

Mrs. Marie Lucille Cummins of Medicine Hat, passed away while in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the age of 77 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years Earl 'Ted' Cummins; her children Wayne (Evelyn) Cummins, Debra Cummins (Bart Braun) and Anita (Gary) Stimson; her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bob (Georgina) VanWert and Bruce (Bev) VanWert; her sister-in-law, Myrt VanWert and an uncle, Cory VanWert as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Albert & Lucille VanWert and a brother, Don VanWert. In earlier years Marie was employed by Wahl Builders, Knight Schmidt Industries and lastly the MHSD #76 where she was employed for 13 years before retiring in 1990. Marie was also actively involved with Ted in Cummins Developments Ltd. She was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple and devoted many hours to the lodge, serving as secretary/treasurer and Honoured Royal Lady. Special thanks to the Home Care Nurses that visited Mom over the last year, the Palliative Care Nurses and Dr. Wardell and Dr. Foley. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th St. S.W. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:25p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Bob Findley officiating. A private family Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Marie's honour to Home Care (666-5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6), the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children (100, 2629 29th Avenue, Regina, SK. S4S 9Z9) or a charity of ones choice.
