Devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Al Baird - a man with a clear and unquestionable devotion to his God and Creator, was embraced in the loving arms of Jesus, his Saviour and brought home to his Heavenly reward on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Al was born March 10, 1933 in Westrose, Alberta, and was raised in the Wetaskiwin and Pigeon Lake areas. He was married to the love of his life, Mary, and would have celebrated a remarkable 50 years together this year. Al was a successful man throughout his life and began his many careers with the Air Force and retired from sales after numerous years of service. His dedication in sales was evident by the many top sales
awards and acknowledgements he received over the years. He was an achiever - in his younger years he was one of the top Senior A fastball pitchers in all of Canada. He enjoyed playing golf and loved watching all sports, especially boxing. Al, most importantly was a family man whose strength and commitment was unmatched and provided inspiration in the lives he touched. Family was the joy of his life... especially his 11 grandchildren, that brought him endless happiness. He cherished the time spent with them. Al had a deep appreciation of nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and took great pleasure in watching his birds and rabbits. His love for animals extended to many pets over the years but closest to his heart was his loyal dog, Cleo. Al’s memory will be held dear in the hearts of his wife, Mary; son, Al (Sue) and their children, Matthew, Nathan, Jessica and Adam; daughter, Jackie (Adam) their daughter Maryssa, and Jackie's children, Branden, Drayden, Dalten, and Robin; son, Jonn (Nichole) and their children, William and Alexander; son, Kenny; and daughter Rebecca; sisters, Rose, Judy, Jean, Grace, Ivie and Joan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
