Mr. Donald James Anderson of Redcliff, beloved husband of Mrs. Deanna Anderson, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the age of 72 years. Donald was born on July 24, 1936 in Boissevain, Manitoba. He was raised in Manitoba before coming west to Medicine Hat. While there, he met and later married Deanna on December 5, 1959. The new couple made Redcliff their home and formed many lasting friendships over the years. He enjoyed the company of many friends while at the Redcliff Hylton and as a member of the Redcliff Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 6. In 2001, he retired as a loyal employee for the Town of Redcliff after 23 years of service. Don liked to go camping and fishing at numerous lakes but his favorite fishing hole was at the Reesor Lake dock. During his life there were many memorable occasions, but some of the most noteworthy included his 25th Anniversary, the births of his sons, Ronald on June 11, 1960 and Sean Anderson on August 13, 1970 and the births of his grandchildren. Donald loved his family and he will be dearly missed by his wife, Deanna; son, Sean Anderson (Deb Coroluick); daughter-in-law, Loretta Anderson (Brent Early); grandchildren, Michael Anderson (Erika Schmaltz), Montana Anderson and Devon Anderson; brothers and sisters, Evelyn (John) Collings, Shirley Anderson, Gene Diment and Rod (Mavis) Diment; mother-in-law, Ruth Dumont; brother-in-law, Leonard (Pat) Dumont; sister-in-law, Cindy (Doug) Murray; sister-in-law, Sandy (Dwayne) Pfeifer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his mother, Delima Diment; step-father, Ernest Diment; father-in-law, John Dumont; father, James Clark Anderson; brother, Lyle Anderson and a son, Ronald James Anderson. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 15, 2009, between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Celebration will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Father John L. Maes officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102, 73 - 7th Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 1J2.
