Obituary - Helen Jobb

July 1, 1932 ~ January 20, 2026

While in the loving presence of her family, Mrs. Helen Mae Jobb, beloved wife of the late Mr. Winston Jobb, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 93 years. Helen’s legacy will live on through her family: son, Sheldon (Charlotte) and their children, Erin (Paul Harper) of Calgary, AB., Laura (Neil Krause) of Calgary; daughter, Phyllis (Bruce Murray) of Bowser, B.C. and her children, Jeff Nish (Trish) of Swift Current, SK. and Tara Nish of Calgary. Helen is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Astrid Nish, Joel Harper, Isla Harper and Charlie Krause; two sisters, Rhoda and Freda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Lydia Christie; three siblings, Hazel, Frank and Milly as well as numerous extended family and many friends. Helen was born in Belmont, Nova Scotia on July 1, 1932. This is also where she was raised and received her education. Winston arrived back home from the war to his beloved N.S. in May 1946. Helen met Winston shortly thereafter, and they were married on August 20, 1948, the beginning of 72 wonderful years together. Initially they settled in Debert, N.S., but only a short time later, the Wild West called as Helen had a sister and brother in Redcliff. This would become home for them until Winston’s passing in 2020. After Winston‘s passing in 2020, Helen moved to the Meadow Ridge Seniors Village. A fall precipitated surgery and a three week stay at the Medicine Hat regional Hospital before a short stay at St. Joseph’s home where her passing occurred. Family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff at Meadow Ridge, 5 West and 2 North at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital as well as St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice. Your care for Helen was exemplary and will never be forgotten. Dignified cremation has taken place. It was Helen‘s wish to join Winston as soon as possible after her passing. There will be no formal service, but rather a delayed “Maritime wake” in the spring.
