May 5, 1930 ~ November 25, 2023
Allister Donovan Otto passed away at River Ridge Seniors Village in Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his children, Gerald (Renetta) Otto of Elkwater, Dolores Otto-Moreno of Colton California, Marilyn Dunn of Medicine Hat, Clifford (Val) Otto of Medicine Hat and Sheila (Colin) Clark of 108 Mile Ranch, BC; brother, Ben Jr.; sister, Renee (George) Symanczyk as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ben Sr. and Martha; son, Harlow; infant grandson, Landon, brother, Allan and son-in-law, John Dunn. Allister was raised on the family farm south of Irvine and received his education at Berry Centre School. For over 60 years, he raised cattle and grew crops on the family farm in the Elkwater district. His strong ethics and aptitude for the Otto family farming and ranching operation were second to none. He was a steward to the land, enjoying traveling to the US including Hawaii and many western Canadian points. In his later senior years, you could still find Allister watching the equipment roll across the fields, the cattle graze and the feeding in the winter. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, December 4, 2023, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A private funeral service will be held.
Sending my sincere condolences to all the family, I remember coming out to Allister's country home, and sharing a lovely dinner with him, Marilyn and John, my husband and my sister. We were happy spending time with him.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your dad and father-in-law. Renetta has been a school friend of my daughter. And more recently she told the story about the cow hurting her at calving time that I wrote a poem about. I guess Gerald, your dad may have had close calls too. It's always so hard to lose a parent. May the pleasant memories comfort you now and in the days to come.
Our sincere condolences on the passing of your father/father-in-law.
So very sorry for your loss!❤️
