Carson Raymond Michael Cleaver-Bueckert of Burdett passed away unexpectedly while home on the farm on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 18 years. Carson was born on June 29th, 2004, in Medicine Hat with a full head of beautiful, brown, curly hair and a dimple on his chin. He was a happy, gentle child who was full of love and laughter. Carson lived in Medicine Hat until the age of 8 when he and his family moved to Burdett to live on the Bueckert Family Farm. Carson attended St. Michael’s School and Senator Gershaw in Bow Island where he played basketball, volleyball and was a member of the North 40 Mile 4-H Club. He loved trips to Carievale to Grandma and Grandpa’s farm, walking through Grandma’s “forest” and eating “truck waffles” out of Grandpa’s truck. Carson loved playing with all of his cousins, big and small. He also loved listening to Grandma and Grandpa Bueckert’s stories, working with them on the farm and exploring the coulees at the Manyberries ranch. Carson enjoyed his many adventures with the Cleaver family which included trips to the mountains, camping and cruising around in the old car.
After graduation in 2022, Carson attended Mount Royal University where he was working to obtain an English Degree. He was a fantastic writer and had yet to determine which direction his writing would take him; but he knew it would be meaningful and passionate.
Carson was an incredible son, brother, grandson and cousin as well as a kind, caring friend. He was a person you could always depend on whether it be a lending hand, a good laugh or a piece of advice.
Carson is survived by his parents, Christa (Franz) Bueckert and Dave (Julie) Cleaver; siblings, Shelby, Colton (Keisha), Clarissa and step-brother, Zachary; grandparents, Michael and Anne Taylor, Franz and Anna Bueckert, Fran and Shirley Dirkson; aunts and uncles, Charneal Taylor, Jacob and Carolyn Bueckert, James and Helena Waldner; cousins, Bailey Kozma, Dallas, Jessie and Elissa Bueckert, Brayden and Payten Waldner and niece, Evelyn Cleaver as well as numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. Carson was predeceased by his grandfathers, Neal Gustafson and Raymond Cleaver as well as his great-uncles, Dale Pidhirney, Dan Taylor and Boyd Minshull who all held a special place in his heart.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 12, 2023, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be offered starting one hour prior to the celebration of Carson’s life which will be held in the Bow Island Arena, 210 - 4 Avenue East on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Norm Smith officiating. I had the pleasure of teaching Carson for just a few short months back in 2020. He certainly had a beautifully unique soul and a calm disposition that welcomed others in. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to all of his loved ones at this most difficult time.

I feel privileged to have known Carson, especially in the role of his English teacher. Meaningful and passionate are accurate descriptions of Carson’s love for and skills in literature. I was indeed blessed to have shared that with him. Praying that you find comfort in his memory.
