It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Arthur James Peter, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, after a life well lived. Art is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; daughters, Pat (Neil) Munro and Shelly (Doug) Kaupp as well as his grandchildren, Matthew, Laura and Emilee. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Rasmussen; sister-in-law, Donna Weiss as well as nieces, nephews and extended family including many wonderful friends in his community and around the province. Art spent 38 years working for the Alberta Forest Service and was stationed in many communities across the province. Art and Marilyn moved to Medicine Hat in 2003 where they enjoyed spending time with friends, family, travelling and their cabin in Elkwater. Special thanks to Dr. Foley and the nursing staff on the 4th floor at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the exceptional care that they provided. As per Dad’s wishes, a private interment will take place at the St. Margaret’s Church Cemetery in Cypress Hills at a later date.
We were very saddened by Art's passing. He was a pillar in our community and we feel very lucky to have known and worked with him. He leaves a legacy of having won a battle with the City on behalf of the community of River Ridge. For that the community should be forever thankful. He will truly be missed. Bruce and Donna Shepard.
So sorry to learn of Art death. I met Art and Marilyn in the Division #4 dormitory. I was part of Art and Marilyn's wedding party. We have kept in touch over the years. Many really great memories.
We would like to express our condolences to Marilyn, Pat, Shelly and extended family. Pete always had a humorous take on the subject matter at hand being discussed. We will dearly miss those conversations at family gatherings. Kelvin, Kim, Quintin and Clayton

I’m so very sorry to hear the passing of Art. I had cut Art’s hair for a couple years and he brought me a lot of joy and many laughs during his appointments. He was a very funny man. My condolences to Marilyn and family. He will forever be missed by many.

Our condolences and thoughts are with the family during this time.
I'll always remember Art for a lot especially during pruning of shrubs as he taught me how to do it the right way, for our nice chats and laughter while meeting up on walks on the trail, knowing when we saw him in his hip waders, that the water feature was definitely going to work and of course our happy hours where we solved the problems of the world. He was our first contact when we moved into the community, showing us around and introducing us to our neighbours. Its these little things that will always bring good memories of Art to us.
We were very sorry to hear of Art's passing. He will be missed by us and the other members of the Happy Hatters.
My sincere sympathy to Marilyn and All the Family on your great loss. May all the fun and wonderful meMories you have of Art help to soften your sorrow. Thoughts and love♡ Penny Porcina
