Donald Christopher Paradis, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the age of 80 years. Left to cherish Don’s memory are his children, Patrice (Al), Denise and Les (Jamie); six grandchildren, Kaley, Tessa, Quinton, Stephanie, Brad and Sarah; brother, Ray (Millie); sister, Joyce as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sophie and their son, Randy. Don was born on September 15, 1939, in St. Paul, AB and grew up on a farm in Foisy where he attended elementary school. He finished his schooling in Edmonton and continued his education at SAIT to become an electrician; moving to several locations wherever there would be an electrical job to do. Don married Sophie on February 27, 1960, and together they raised four wonderful children. They were living in Calgary when Don’s last electrical job brought him to Medicine Hat. He moved his family to Medicine Hat in 1973 where he built their first home. When the project was completed at Alberta Gas Chemicals, Don decided to build the family another home and he decided to take up construction full time. Don started Paradon Builders where he became a well liked and respected businessman. He continued to build homes until 2006 when he retired but he wasn’t quite ready, so he built homes for a few more years. Construction was Don’s life and he enjoyed it immensely. He made many lasting relationships over the years. Don and Sophie loved travelling and going south to Arizona and the Nevada area; especially attending the PBR in Vegas and the Laughlin River Run. Don will be forever missed! The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 5E of MHRH as well as St. Joseph’s Home for their wonderful care. Due to Covid 19 and the new guidelines set out by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, a Private Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Don’s name may be made directly to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, c/o Medicine & District Health Foundation, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 4H6.

Patrice, Denise and Les,
We send our sincere sympathy for the passing of your Dad. He was a fine, gentle human being who always had a a kind word and a dry wit with the ability to put a smile everyone's face. His humorous side was notable, especially at family gatherings...and I will always remember the joy of those times together!
Let the memories of all the great times you had together with your Mom and Dad give you the strength to move forward with gratefulness for all you shared together; those are the times that are most meaningful for everyone.
We are thinking of you and your families and wish you the very best as you celebrate your Dad's life. We will remember the good family times shared.
Bob, Linda and Family

My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. Cherish the memories that you all share as they will live on within you. A mother and father are precious in our hearts forever and always. You have had to say good bye to both of these people in a very short time. This is such a hardship but keep each other close by and know that your parents are forever in your souls.
We would like to send our condolences to all the Paradis family. Sorry that we couldn’t be there for you during this time of need, as I’m sure you needed some comfort. Hugs to all of you, God bless!

I am very sad to hear of Don's passing. I really enjoyed talking with Don and Sophie when ever I ran into them. They always treated me with nothing but respect, and will always have nothing but good memories of them both. Don's obituary was very nice, and I liked his picture.
Patrice, Denise, Les and families,
We were truly saddened to hear of Don’s passing. Your Mom and Dad were two of the kindest and gentlest souls we have ever had the pleasure to know. Please know that although we cannot physically be together for support, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Draw strength and peace from each other, family and friends. Enjoy and share your memories. Hopefully you can find some comfort that they are at peace and together forever. God Bless.

Our thoughts are with Don's family as we are sorry to hear of his passing. We live in a lovely house in NE Crescent Heights built by Don in 1998. He and his crew were very easy to work with, pleasant, and helpful. Hoping you find comfort in memories of Don.
