Edgar Urbin Jean-Baptiste Yarjau passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat at the age of 78 years. Ed leaves to cherish his memory his best friend and wife of 53 years, Linda; his two children, Roger Yarjau and Diane Hope and her three children, Shelby, Kelton and Parker. He is also survived by his sister, Dora; sisters-in-law, Yvette, Florence, Wilma and brother-in-law, Sylvio (Jeanette) as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he cherished his relationships with. He was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Antonia Yarjau; three brothers, Ray, Paul and Bob as well as his sister, Lucille. Ed was a teacher by heart. He taught for 37 years throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. He taught his final 21 years for MHCBE at St. Mary’s. Ed was devoted to his students and his colleagues. He made many friends throughout his years of teaching and in his travels. Ed and Linda loved to travel and go on adventures, especially cruises to holiday destinations. He was a hunter, fisherman and craftsman. Ed treasured outdoor time with his grandkids. His fondest time was memory making with his three beloved grandkids! “Papere” was a funny, kind, strict and loving role model and all three will continue to follow his legacy. Ed will be well remembered for his storytelling, goofy attitude and ability to make people laugh. He will be missed. Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 1 Street S.W. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 - 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Tomy Manjaly celebrant. Private family interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In leu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made directly to St. Joseph’s Home, 156 - 3 Street N.E., Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 5M1 where he was well taken care of during his final days.

Our deepest sympathy to Linda and family for the loss of Ed. Ed was such a good friend, neighbour and hunting companion. I will miss all his stories about his personal life that he shared over a Wisers whisky or during the time we hunted together. He lived life to the fullest and certainly enjoyed family the most. We will all miss Ed and may he rest in peace.

Hi Linda. We would like to send you our deepest sympathies . We were unable to attend either the prayers or funeral for Ed as I was doing hayrides both times. We always enjoyed our visits with Ed either after church or out here at the ranch when he would stop to visit while out hunting gophers. Hope you are doing ok
