It is with heavy hearts that the family of Colleen Marie Sheardown, wonderful mother to Shelby, announce her unexpected passing near Vernon, B.C., on Monday, July 30, 2018, at the age of 53 years. Colleen was born and raised in Medicine Hat on June 24, 1965, a daughter to Jim and Connie Sheardown. With her roots and family in Medicine Hat, this is where she remained throughout her life. As a young lady, she gained employment with Shoppers Drug Mart and dedicated the next 28 years of her life as a long-time, loyal employee. As the Cosmetic Department Manager, her fun-loving and vibrant personality made her a natural fit for her position. Colleen was very chatty and became well known and more importantly, was well liked and respected by all who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the thrill of riding her motorcycle and belonging to the motorcycle family. She also loved to go shopping and spending time with family which included going camping and sitting around the campfire. The light of her life was her daughter, Shelby, who was absolutely everything to her! Colleen’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family: daughter, Shelby Sheardown; mother, Connie Sheardown; siblings and nephews: James (Coreen) Sheardown and their son, Christopher; Scott (Brenda) Sheardown and their son, Brock; Donna Lee (Collin) Stabler and their sons, Rylan and Tyson; and Carmen (Mike) Rath and their sons, Jake and Travis. Colleen is also survived by her companion, Al Harink as well as numerous friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her father Jim in 2011 and two very close God-children, Casey and Dennis. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Celebration will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 - 4th Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Canon Gene Packwood officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial donations in Colleen’s memory may be made directly to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 - 4th Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0L1.

Dear Shelby and Sheardown family,
First I would like to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss of Colleen, I have known Colleen since high school and have many great memories of her. A couple of my first memories with her were of cruising around in her super cool blue Camaro as teenagers and meeting some of our first teen heartthrobs together. As time went on we shared regular updates on romantic relationships, children, family, work and health. Colleen had the most contagious and best smile ever, she was a warm and genuine person and I am so lucky to say she was my friend for 35 years and I will never forget her. I hope you find some comfort in these memories to help you during this difficult time, take care.
We were so sorry to hear about Colleen and send our deepest condolences. May God help ease your pain and give you strength.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Colleen always had such a warm and comforting smile. Dear Shelby and the Sheardown family,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Colleen. I met Colleen in high school and then later in life we reunited while registered in the same prenatal class. Our children grew up together, went to the same schools from kindergarten all the way to graduation. It was always a pleasure walking into Shoppers Drug Mart and seeing her there. Just very recently, I had the most pleasant visit with her. It was so nice talking to her and I remember telling her so. She will be missed dearly. She was a wonderful, hard working, beautiful and loving woman. May the memories of Colleen's love be with you all and comfort you at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

May she continue those long walks ‘above us’ while looking down on us!
