It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Hazel Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Dye of Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 89 years. She passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on her birthday, February 27th. Betty leaves behind her sons, Bradley and Larry; daughters-in-law, Ruth and Marlene and grandchildren, Adam, Brittany, Jocelyne and Amanda. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; mother, Rosina; father, George; sisters, Marion, Florence, Inez and brother, Warren. Betty was born Hazel Elizabeth Ruff on February 27, 1929, in Windsor, Ontario but spent the majority of her early life in Saskatchewan. She met her husband, Albert in Yorkton, SK while he was stationed there with the RCMP and they were subsequently married in Yorkton in 1952. Al’s duties with the RCMP ‘Air’ Division took the family to the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, back to Saskatchewan and finally to Edmonton where they resided for 40 years. Betty moved to Medicine Hat following Albert’s passing where she resided in the community until entering an extended care facility in 2016. Betty will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, sense of humour and for the tremendous and loving care that she had for her family and friends. While we deeply mourn her passing, we are thankful for her faith as we surrender her into the loving arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ. The memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1903 - 19 Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Betty's family. My mother, Adeline Anton, lived at River Ridge condos and became friends with Betty. They visited often and also attended the many social events together. Betty was a lovely kind lady to me and to mom. May God comfort you in this time of grief as I know how difficult it is. Mom passed away in May 2017.

We are very sorry to hear of Betty's passing and want to extend our deepest sympathy to Bradley, Larry and families. Betty and Al were our neighbors in the duplex when we were stationed in Ft. Smith, N.W.T. Good neighbors - good friends. Sincerely and with love, Norm & Doreen Brisbin

With sincere thoughts and remembrance, we cherish our memories during work and social times graced with Betty's presence. What a genuine person she was. From early times as a pilot with the RCMP Air Division at Edmonton and elsewhere in western Canada during the 60's and 70's, I got to know Betty with respect. God Bless, Gord and Cindy Hayden
