Mable Ann ‘Midge’ Yates, beloved wife of Mr. Thomas Yates, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Monday, October 26, 2009, at the age of 71 years. Along with her loving husband, Tom, Midge leaves to cherish her memory four children: Russel Yates (Rochelle McCann) of Coaldale, Pat (Scott) McCray of Bow Island, Shelly (Brian) Lambert of Benalto, AB., and Murray (Jayne) Yates of Carseland, AB.; five grandchildren: Bailey McCray, Miles McCray, Kaelin Lambert, Clayton Yates and Rohdy Yates. She is survived by four siblings: Phyllis (Bill) McLeod, Bob (Ann) Nott, Audrey (Ron) Beatch and Bruce Nott; two sisters-in-law, Delores Yates, Pat (Mick) Brooks; brother-in-law, Richard Yates and numerous nieces and nephews. Midge was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Russell Nott; four sisters, Catherine, Helen, Nora and Jeanette; two brothers, Donald and Murray; sister-in-law, Gladys Nott; three brothers-in-law, Bill Yates, Arnold Peterson and Chuck Donnelly as well as three nephews, Lorne Nott, Bill Brooks and Jim Yates. Mable Ann was born to Helen and Russell Nott in Medicine Hat on June 30, 1938, the youngest of 11 children. Medicine Hat is also where she was raised and received her education. In 1957, Midge married Thomas Yates, and together they moved to Burdett. Throughout their lives together, they moved numerous times, living in Bow Island and Etzikom before settling down in Lethbridge. Together, they owned and operated MTY Trucking, a business they incorporated in 1974. Family was always a priority for Midge, and this was never more evident than when she was spending time with her grandchildren! She also enjoyed time spent doing puzzles, but her true passion was Bingo. Midge will be dearly remembered, especially for her strength and courage while fighting lung cancer over the past 4 1/2 years. A Celebration of Midge’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Cancer Clinic care of the Foundation Office, Chinook Regional Hospital, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 1W5.
