Mr. John James 'Jim' Clarkson, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Maude Clarkson, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Jim was born on April 14, 1916 in Irvine, a son to William and Elizabeth Clarkson. He received his education in Vale (Hilda and Schuler area) and later attended Elm Street School in Medicine Hat. He married Ada Irene Oberhammer and born to them was a baby girl, Carol Ann. A few years later, Ada passed away. For a number of years, he was employed as a grader operator with the Department of Highways and worked as a house mover for a period of time. He also worked as a farmhand where he 'broke horses' and completed the daily duties of life on a farm. These were memories that Jim was fond of later in life. From 1955 until 1980, Jim worked at CFB Suffield as a fireman. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and of course...camping. He camped until the age of 84! For the past two years he resided at the Meadowlands Retirement Facility. He will be cherished in the hearts of his family including his 7 children and grandchildren, Carol Ann (Albrecht) Engler and their family, Marlane (Aaron) and Paul (Kerri); Lyle (Janet) Clarkson and their family, Monica (Frank), Kendra (Nader), Alicia and Jessica; Joyce (Daryl) Braumberger and their family, Nicole and Megan; Randy (Jacquie) Clarkson and their family, Jeremy, Stephanie and Andrea; Robert (Karen) Taylor and their family, Stephen (Janet, Melodie (Cam), Colleen (Drew) and Scott; Edward (Barb) Taylor and their family John (Kim) and Mike (Amy) and Don (Myrt) Taylor as well as numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Ada Irene, his second wife Caroline Maude, his parents and brothers and sisters. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., on Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Gene Packwood officiating.
