Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Ashmead(October 20, 2010)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dan Ashmead, a dear husband, father and friend. Also known as “Dash” to many. He fought an incredibly long and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves the Love of his life, soul mate and partner of 30 years, Goldene. His precious children, Lawrence (Melanie) and Kerri (Jay).
Also his one and only Grandson, Quinn. Dan also leaves his loving Dad, Harold (Carol). His Loving and Loyal sisters, Heather (Michael), Lorna (Ken), Mary (Murray). Also numerous nieces and nephews, all with a special place in Uncle Danny’s heart. He is also survived by his in-laws, Dwayne (Bernice) and family and Len and family. He was
predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Rupert and Stella, Uncles Glen and Clifford, maternal grandparents Al and Dorothy, a special Aunt Irene, Uncle Jack and nephew David Scott in infancy. Also his father and mother-in-law, Mel and Eileen and sister-in-law, Gail.

Dan found his “Love of Work” in oilfield Instrumentation. He always worked hard and played just as hard. He always believed that good friends, good food, and good music were the essentials for making good memories. Saturdays were spent with CKUA and a good glass of wine. Dan loved his new motorcycle and found peace and freedom on the open
road. His major accomplishments were his family, friends, home, career and of course, his model train. The family will honour Dan’s wishes with a celebration of his life. Time and location will be announced.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Dan’s name directly to the Palliative Care Society, 640 – 3rd Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 0H5 or to CKUA Radio, Epcor Centre, 205 – 8th Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 0K9.
