It is with great sadness, the family of Mary Lillian 'Shireen' Anderson, nee Dorothy, announce her passing on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the age of 71 years. Shireen was born to Sydney and Thelma Dorothy on September 5, 1940, in South Porcupine, ON. She was raised in the Timmins, ON. area where she finished high school and completed some of her post secondary nursing school. Shireen married George Francis ‘Ande’ Anderson on January 24, 1959 in Ottawa, ON., sharing in 52 years of marriage together. They were blessed with four children, Russell, Howard, Douglas and Ronald. Shireen was known for her wonderful sense of humor. She was a doting mother and grandmother and loved her family very much. Shireen loved to read, and also enjoyed doing ceramics, needlework and puzzles of all sorts. She also loved to make her own gifts for family and friends. She had fond memories of the Queen Charlotte Islands and of Masset and always wanted to go back. Her Catholic Faith was important to her and lived her life accordingly. Shireen will be forevered remembered in the hearts of her husband, Ande; children, Russell (Deanna), their children, Schadow and Crystal; Howard (Norma) their daughters, Jennifer, Crystal, Marlena, Vanessa and Jessica; Douglas (Sheila) their children, Patrick and Christine; Ronald and his children, Joseph, Cory and Baylee; six great grandchildren; Nodin, Jaxson, Gavin, Jordis, Alejandro and Ariana; sister, Lynda (Dennis) Bernardi. Shireen was predeceased by her parents, Sydney and Thelma Dorothy and brother, Rick Dorothy. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 - 2nd Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Father Roque Pereira officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Shireen’s name may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4700, Stn South, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 9Z9.
